Background of the Clearance Sale
Far Eastern Planning first imported Nepali wine into Japan in February 2024 and has continued its business as the only company in Japan handling Nepali wine to this day.
However, due to the recent sharp depreciation of the Japanese yen and the significant increase in international transportation costs, we were forced to set the retail price of our wines at approximately JPY 2,000–3,000 per bottle.
Despite this price range, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all customers who chose to purchase our wines.
At the same time, the majority of feedback we received from restaurant operators and individual consumers was as follows:
“The price per bottle is too high.”
“Shipping should be completely free.”
Regarding shipping costs, as a small business, we do not operate our own delivery network and therefore must rely entirely on external logistics companies.
In addition, the original import cost per bottle is relatively high, and the following expenses are also incurred:
International shipping costs
Payment of liquor tax and consumption tax at customs
Monthly warehouse storage and management fees
Packaging material costs for delivery to customers
Due to these factors, it had been difficult for us to significantly lower our prices.
However, nearly two years have passed since our initial import, and sales have not grown as expected. As a result, we are still holding a considerable amount of inventory.
To make matters worse, around last summer, numerous fraudulent websites falsely claiming to sell our wines appeared. Several consumers were actually victimized by these fake sites (some of which are still being found today).
Although these sites are completely unrelated to us, this situation has unfortunately led to a decline in trust not only toward Nepali wine in general, but also toward our products.
Given these circumstances, we are currently offering all wines in this clearance sale at prices well below cost.
This decision has been extremely difficult from a business standpoint, but it has been made in order to liquidate inventory promptly and to provide more people with the opportunity to experience Nepali wine once again.
We kindly ask for your understanding regarding the purpose of this sale.
